Getting the right AC system for your home
A lot of companies will sell you whatever system they have on the truck. We do not work that way. The first thing we do is evaluate your home: square footage, insulation, window placement, how many stories, the condition of your existing ductwork. Then we run a Manual J load calculation to figure out exactly what tonnage and SEER2 rating makes sense for your space and your budget.
An oversized system cools the house fast but never runs long enough to pull humidity out of the air. An undersized one runs constantly and never gets the house comfortable. Either way, you end up with higher bills and a shorter equipment lifespan. Getting the size right matters more than the brand name on the box.
What we install
- Central AC systems (split systems with outdoor condenser and indoor air handler or furnace)
- Heat pumps (cooling and heating in one unit, popular for mild-winter climates like ours)
- Ductless mini-split systems for room additions, garages, and homes without ductwork
- Package units for homes with rooftop or closet HVAC setups
- Dual-fuel systems that pair a heat pump with a gas furnace backup
We install Carrier, Lennox, Trane, Bryant, Goodman, Daikin, and Rheem. We are not tied to one manufacturer, so we can recommend based on what fits your needs rather than what earns us the biggest margin.
How our installation process works
- Free in-home estimate. We look at your current system, measure your home, check the ductwork, and talk through your preferences on budget vs. efficiency. This takes about 45 minutes.
- Written proposal. You get a line-item quote with the equipment cost, labor, any duct modifications needed, and available financing terms. No surprises after the fact.
- Installation day. Our crew removes the old equipment, installs the new system, connects everything, and tests it. Most replacements take one day. New duct runs or complex setups can take two.
- Walk-through and thermostat setup. We show you how to use your new thermostat (smart or standard), set an efficient schedule, and make sure every room is getting airflow.
- Permits and warranty. We pull the permits if required and register your manufacturer warranty. You get paperwork for everything.
SEER2 ratings and what they mean for your electric bill
Since January 2023, all new AC systems sold in the Southwest (including California) must meet a minimum of 15 SEER2. Higher SEER2 numbers mean higher efficiency and lower monthly electric costs, but they also cost more upfront.
For most Pomona area homes, we recommend 16 to 18 SEER2. The cooling season here runs roughly May through October, sometimes longer, so you run the AC enough to see real savings from higher efficiency. A 17 SEER2 system uses roughly 25% less electricity per cooling hour than a 13 SEER system from 10 years ago. On a typical summer month where your old system cost $180 in electricity, you might see that drop to $130 to $140.
We can walk through the payback math for your specific situation during the estimate. Sometimes the jump from 16 to 20 SEER2 adds $2,000+ to the price but only saves $8/month. Other times, especially in larger homes, the upgrade pays for itself in 4 to 5 years.
Already know your AC needs repair, not replacement?
If your system just needs a fix, check out our AC repair page. We are happy to repair your current unit if that makes more financial sense. We also handle all heating and cooling services, water heater installs, and gas line work if you are upgrading multiple systems at once.
